For so many, the mention of Vietnam brings to mind 'one-dimensional' images of American soldiers and their experiences in that country. It's so unfortunate that Hollywood continues to propagate this one-sided view of war and Communism instead of focusing on the individual souls rocked by these terrors.

Trinh Do is my hero. The story of his life in Communist Vietnam and of his escape is a testament to the his determination, perseverance and inner strength.
